Vienna Highlights in September and Oktober

At the beginning of September, the Marx Halle will be transformed into a meeting place for coffee lovers from across Europe during the Vienna Coffee Festival (11–13 September 2026) – with roasteries, baristas and a programme all about the world of coffee.

At the end of September, the Vienna Wine Hiking Days (26–27 September 2026) invite visitors to explore the vineyards: Along four routes through the wine-growing areas and past traditional wine taverns, guests can taste Sturm and the first wine of the new vintage. From the end of October, Austria’s largest film festival, the VIENNALE (22 October–3 November 2026), presents exciting cinema evenings right in the heart of the city. Sports enthusiasts can look forward to the Erste Bank Open (24 October–1 November 2026), when the ATP Tour comes to the Wiener Stadthalle with stars such as Alexander Zverev and Flavio Cobolli.

Always a good idea: spending a few cosy hours in a café. Vienna’s coffee houses invite you to enjoy coffee specialities, a slice of Sachertorte, legendary Buchteln (sweet filled rolls), or a comforting cup of rich hot chocolate. And last but not least, the vineyards and green oases on the outskirts of Vienna provide the perfect colourful autumn backdrop – rounded off with a cosy visit to a traditional wine tavern (Heuriger).
