Henriette has secret tips on the best things to do in Vienna
Our Vienna – fantastic in every season!
And quite honestly, where else could the Henriette City Hotel be located with all this love for life, if not here in Vienna? We’re sure about that: Vienna was rightly named the world’s most liveable city for the tenth time in 2019! Austria’s federal capital, a world heritage site and a city full of charm and spirit are just some of the many reasons why people feel so at home here.
Henriette's world revolves around Vienna
We love to share with our guests the things that make our life here so special. All of us who work at the Henriette City Hotel have our favourite things to do and places to visit in Vienna, which can be seen at a glance on the notice boards in the staircase.
Curious? Our Henriette Team has collected the best Vienna tips for you and is delighted to share them with you right here! Our Hotel Henriette inspires with a perfect location in the Praterstrasse and offers excellent connections to the public transport network. It almost doesn’t get any better than this ...
#1 Schönbrunn Palace
Situated in Vienna’s 13th district, Schönbrunn Palace with its famous Gloriette is a masterpiece and one of the best things to see in Vienna. An architectural wonder in which Empress Sisi and Emperor Franz Joseph resided. Just as Sisi once did, visitors can stroll through the palace park today. It’s definitely worth going a little further up to the Gloriette: from here you have a fantastic view over Vienna!

#2 MuseumsQuartier
The MuseumsQuartier, MQ for short, in the 7th district, is a magnet for locals as well as guests from all over the world. Imagine the sun shining, the hustle and bustle all around you, mixed with the lightness of being. The yellow “Enzi” seats invite you to hang out. And for a change of pace, there are treats to be had in the cafés and museums. And now take a quick look up: to the MQ Libelle on the roof of the Leopold Museum. What a fun place to visit in Vienna!

#3 The City Centre
You can stroll, laugh, discover, taste, sit and love. Because a visit to Vienna’s city centre simply deserves the maximum amount of love and attention. St Stephen’s Cathedral watches over events on Kärntner Strasse, no doubt enjoying the spectacle around its gothic walls.
There are about 1000 little things you simply have to see in Vienna’s 1st district: Where would you like to start? With the Mozarthaus? The Kleinem Café? The Blutgassenviertel? ...

#4 The Prater
It's quite high up there, where the Ferris wheel stops for a moment with its guests swinging in the gondolas. “Look!”, Henriette also likes to call out with a curious glance when she shows her loved ones “her city” and “her Prater”. By the way, did you know that it’s incredibly multifaceted?
If you want to leave the fairground with its adventures, ghost trains and candy floss behind, you can either go to one of the charming pubs or seek out some peace and quiet in the park, which offers the Viennese a lot of green leisure time and relaxation.

#5 Christmas Market
Perhaps there’s no better place to wish yourself a “Merry Christmas” than here. With hot mulled wine, chestnuts, gingerbread hearts and twinkling eyes. The town hall square glitters and sparkles from afar.
And it’s not just time for the little ones to put their skates on and whizz around the ice rink a few times. The Eistraum (“Ice Dream”) in the Rathauspark is an annual highlight for Viennese and Vienna lovers alike. But also many smaller, not so well-known Christmas markets attract visitors to Vienna and impress with their traditions and handicrafts.

Our employees reveal:
The best things to see in Vienna
The “Alte Donau” (Old Danube) in the 22nd district is a great recreational area: for swimming, walking, boating or stand-up paddling. In between you can take a break in one of the pleasant restaurants on the promenade.
The “Donau Insel” (Danube Island) located between 2nd and 22nd district is the perfect place to have a lovely time. In summer, people like to come for picnics or barbecues. There's also plenty of space for the kids to run around and play.
The “Volksgarten” (People’s Garden) located in the 1st district is the perfect retreat to unwind or to reflect on life. Especially in the morning, when it's still relatively quiet all around, the atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and beautiful.
The “Kaffee Alt Wien” (Old Vienna Café) in the 1st district is an exciting mix of traditional coffee house, rustic “Beisl” (a uniquely Viennese kind of pub) and a real family business. A must on (almost) every visit, and the Alt Wien goulash soup is probably the best in town!
